Perspective

Long ago, I would have seen nothing but the destruction left behind by the past storms.  I would have given way to the sadness of the trees being uprooted and tossed aside.  Thinking about them being uprooted from their comfortable foundational homes would have sent me into a toxic thought spiral of my own lack of upbringing in a very uncomfortable toxic foundational home.

In the present, I walk along this same "path of destruction" left behind by the past storms.  Only now, I find solace in the view of the beautiful stream now displayed in plain sight because the trees and thorny bushes are no longer blocking it's view.  I find peace in now being able to see the mini waterfalls throughout the stream that I once only could hear from afar and imagine how lovely they must be.

Today, I am grateful for the lovely outcome caused by the storms.  I'm not saying the trees needed to be devastated beyond repair, I'm just acknowledging a new outlook.  Although not all storms are necessary, sometimes just getting through them can bring something beautiful on the other side that we never recognized or would have seen prior.

Tell me, what's your perspective?
